Covid Secure Important Info

Here at Floating Point, we take hygiene and cleanliness very seriously which is why we have introduced a number of different additional measures relating to cleaning and social distancing to make sure you can float in confidence with minimum disruption.

At the moment we will only be offering float sessions and infrared sauna sessions, massage treatments and classes are not available.

We will be using Dew Electrolysed Water Disinfectant at the centre for cleaning and hand sanitiser. It is non-toxic, environmentally friendly, safe and human body compatible. DEW Disinfect will achieve a 99.995% reduction in bacteria in less than 30 seconds. Please adhere to social distancing and hygiene measures whilst at the centre, thank you.

Wearing a mask in the centre is not mandatory, you can wear one in public areas if you wish. Do not wear facemasks whilst floating or in the sauna, the tanks, sauna and float environments are deep cleaned between each session

The Centre

We are also following guidance from health experts at the Floatation Tank Association, they are global experts on Floatation Therapy.

  • To stop walk-ins the front door will be locked, ring the bell and a staff member will open for you. Please keep a distance of 2 metres between you and the staff member.

  • Hand sanitiser will be available as you walk in the building and near the bathrooms, please use.

  • We will have a perspex screen at reception to minimise contact space between staff and clients.

  • All touchpoints in the waiting area, bathrooms, float rooms, infrared sauna room and relaxation area including all door handles will be cleaned between clients using Electrolysed Water Disinfectant. It is non-toxic, environmentally friendly, safe and human body compatible. DEW Disinfect will achieve a 99.995% reduction in bacteria in less than 30 seconds.

  • We have 2 bathrooms and it will be one person per bathroom. (Max 5 clients on-site at any one time, ie. 2 people floating, 1 in the Infrared Sauna and 2 people in the relaxation area, maximum of 3 clients in the public space at any one time.

  • Staff will have minimal contact with clients and from a safe distance of 2 metres plus wearing a facemask.

Floatation Tanks

Firstly, we would like to reassure you that Covid-19 is not a waterborne disease. There is no evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, spas, or water play areas. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/water.html.

In addition to this, the Floatation Tanks have the following features for water filtration and sanitation. The water is filtered 4 times between float sessions for a period of 15 mins, it will also filter overnight at set times to maintain hygiene levels.

  • Each Float Tank contains 500kg of Epsom Salt in 1000 litres of water. Floatation tank water contains an extremely high concentration of Epsom salt; between 25-35% (weight/volume or w/v). This is near the saturation limit of Mg2SO4, which is 30% at 20°C. High salt concentrations cause water to leave the cell, and it is this osmotic pressure that inhibits microbial growth and reproduction.

  • We recently installed UV filters on the tanks as part of the filtration system. Exposing the water to UltraViolet (UV-C) light is the most effective sanitizing method to destroy micro-organisms in domestic pools up to 99.9%.

  • The water then passes through a 1-micron filter, which is an incredible 100 times smaller than a human hair.

  • An auto dose of Hydrogen Peroxide is added to the water during the filtering process, H2O2 is an oxidizer, meaning it helps break down the bits of microorganisms that are left after they have been inactivated. A larger dose is added overnight to maintain the required hygiene levels.

  • The inside and outside of the float tanks, inside surfaces, lid, buttons and handles will be sprayed with Electrolysed Water Disinfectant. It is non-toxic, environmentally friendly, safe and human body compatible. DEW Disinfect will achieve a 99.995% reduction in bacteria in less than 30 seconds. There will be a gap of 30 minutes between float sessions to allow for a deep clean.

Infrared Sauna

The inside and outside of the Infrared Saunas, buttons and handles will be sprayed with Electrolysed Water Disinfectant. It is non-toxic, environmentally friendly, safe and human body compatible. DEW Disinfect will achieve a 99.995% reduction in bacteria in less than 30 seconds. There will be a gap of 30 minutes between Sauna sessions to allow for a deep clean.

Float Sessions/Infrared Sauna Session

Please note the following with regards to float sessions and infrared sauna sessions.

Do not wear facemasks whilst floating or in the sauna, the tanks, sauna and float environments are deep cleaned between each session

  • Each float session will last 60 mins, there will be an additional 30 mins between float sessions to allow for cleaning and next inductions. There will not be any 90 min or 120 min sessions.

  • For new clients, the online waiver forms and the ‘Precautionary Coronavirus Liability Form’ must be completed prior to arrival.

  • We will take the clients temperature on arrival using a temperature gun, the staff member will be wearing a mask.

  • All payments will be taken before the float sessions.

  • The ‘Precautionary Coronavirus Liability Form’ must be completed by all returning clients prior to arrival and each Float/Sauna Session until such time as it is deemed not necessary.

  • New inductions will be viewed online via a video which can be watched on your phone at home, in the car outside or in the waiting area if circumstances allow it.

  • Staggered starts and staggered inductions if needed for each float client if clients have not travelled together. There will be a gap of 10 mins between inductions and start times, so the risk of clients being in close proximity is greatly reduced. This will be the same for the Infrared Sauna, we will let you know in advance your start time. This will be either 10 mins earlier or 10 mins later than your original booking.

  • You will have 10 minutes to shower post-float, this allows more time for a deep clean in between sessions.

  • You can use our relaxation room, maximum of 2 people and observing the 2-metre social distancing requirement. Maximum time of 25 mins.

  • Clients will be able to leave together if they travelled together as a couple (related or friends).

  • If clients arrived separately, they would have to leave separately with a 5-minute gap between each client entering the reception area to allow time to put shoes on and coat on if necessary.
