Floatation FAQ's
At Floating Point we understand you will have questions regarding your float session, so we have put together a comprehensive list of relevant questions and answers to put you at ease. If your question is not on the list, do not hesitate in contacting us.

What If I am Claustrophobic?
Claustrophobia is a fear of being in enclosed spaces without any control. You can choose to float with the door of the tank open and with the interior light on. You’re always in control of your environment, and even people with extreme claustrophobia have reported having no problems with their time in the tank.

Do I Need To Bring Anything?
If you have longer hair, you may want to bring a hair brush. Also if you have contact lenses, please bring something to store them in while you’re floating. Other than that, we provide everything you need (towels, earplugs, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and a hairdryer).

What Do I Wear In The Pod?
We recommend that you don’t wear anything, wearing a costume can be distracting and does not allow you to fully relax.

Is The Room Private?
Yes, you float within your own individual suite. Each suite has its own shower and dressing space for your exclusive use for the duration of your session.

How Long Is The Session?
You float for a minimum of one hour, 10 minutes of soothing music at the start, which fades out. 45 minutes of complete blissful silence and then 5 minutes of music at the end to tell you that the session is over. A 90-minute session allows you time to wash before and after. Many prefer to float longer and you can add time to your float, just call us so we can be sure to schedule the time you want.

How Do I Know The Water Is Clean?
The water is fully filtered 4 times between each float, passing through a highly advanced filtration system which filters the water multiple times between floats to 1 micron (that’s 100 times smaller than a human hair!). The water also passes through a UV filter and has a small amount of hydrogen peroxide added to it to maintain cleanliness.

What If I Fall Asleep?
Your body acts like an iceberg, the majority of you is under the water, so you do not feel the need to turn over. So it's perfectly safe to fall asleep.

Can I float if I am menstruating?
You can float if menstruating and using tampons.

I am pregnant can I float?
Absolutely, in fact, heavily pregnant women probably get more relief from The Float Pod than anyone else. Just lying on a bed can be extremely uncomfortable for women in the later stages of pregnancy due to the massive gravitational strain placed on the body. Like most activities though, it is not recommended during the first trimester. We do recommend you consult your doctor before floating.

Is there anything I can do to prepare?
Don’t drink caffeine for several hours before floating. Eat a light meal about an hour or so to keep your stomach quiet. Also, don’t shave or wax before floating since the Epsom Salt solution can irritate and sting your skin. For men avoid shaving 6 hours before a float and for women allow at least 12 hours before a float.

What is the minimum age to float?
The minimum age to enjoy a floatation session at Floating Point is 16 years old, please call to discuss further.

Is there anyone that should avoid floating?
We do not recommend floating for Epileptics, Heart Conditions and Ear Infections. You will be required to complete a questionnaire prior to your session to determine if floating is safe for you.

Can more than one person float at a time?
Only one person per pod. We have two float pods in separate rooms, so you and a friend can float in our centre at the same time.

Can I float if I dye my hair?
Floating with dyed hair is perfectly okay. Please wait a week or so after you dye your hair before floating to make sure that any extra colour has had the chance to rinse out. There is a chance that recently-dyed hair may colour the water in our float Pods.

What about my cosmetics?
All cosmetics and chemicals should be removed prior to entering The Float Pod. All guests are required to shower beforehand in your float room. This keeps any potential allergens or irritants out of the tank.
We do have space outside your suite to reapply any cosmetics or dry your hair.

Do I have to stay in the whole time?
You can get out anytime. That said, 60-minutes usually go by quite quickly.

Will I feel disorientated after the float?
Everyone has very unique float experiences. Most feel relaxed similar to a wonderful massage. Be gentle and give yourself time after your float to absorb the experience in our relaxation room, we provide herbal tea and water so you can sit and enjoy your post-float glow.
